 Stop Sending Away Your Visitors!

by Kimberly Teed

You've worked hard for your visitors, it is your site they have clicked to visit -- stop sending them away !

I am still amazed when I go to a site, click a link and leave the site. They interested me enough to get me to visit and then let me leave right away -- this is such a waste of their marketing efforts!

There is no reason a visitor should leave your site because they clicked a link. A quick change in your HTML coding and you can set it up so a new window opens up -- and your visitors will stay.

Or, leave the links as they are and maybe you can write it off as charity. And, while you're giving away your visitors, please make sure you link to all of my sites -- I accept charity ;)

Seriously, it's easy to do, so there is no reason to loose a visitor again. The HTML code for your link will look like this:

<a href="http://presencesense.com" target="_blank">Click here to
test this link</a> Replace PresenceSense.com and the text with your own information.

Personally, I use Microsoft's FrontPage for setting up the basics and then edit the HTML coding as needed. To do this with FrontPage - make a link as usual, place your mouse on top of your new link and right click, then select "Hyperlink Properties". In the space entitled "Target Frame" type in "_blank" - select OK. That's it!

Now the time consuming part -- going back and re-doing all of your old links that have been shoo'ing away your visitors.

Best wishes for *tons* of traffic,
---Kimberly
